ACEA Conference 2026
The Atlantic Canada Economics Association invites the submission of papers for its 52nd Annual Conference, to be held October 2nd-4th in Wolfville, Nova Scotia at Acadia University. The conference encourages submissions from all areas of economics and related interdisciplinary studies. The general theme of the conference is “Better Living in Atlantic Canada”. Plenary speakers include Dr. Andrew Clark, Paris School of Economics, and Dr. Michael Baker, University of Toronto. Further announcements on keynote topics, panels, and events are expected.
Those interested in presenting a paper at the conference are invited to submit an abstract or paper by August 31st, 2026. Please email your proposal to andrew.davis@acadiau.ca. Decisions on accepted papers will be made on a rolling basis and regularly released by the organizing committee. Those interested in organizing their own workshops, panels, or sessions should also contact andrew.davis@acadiau.ca directly. The conference welcomes submissions of work in progress and from students. The conference also welcomes the presentation of posters, instead of or in addition to regular session presentations; please indicate if you are seeking to present a poster.
The conference provides limited travel support for students or early-career scholars without alternative means of financial support. Please indicate on submission of your abstract whether you would like to be considered for travel support, with a very brief explanation of any relevant circumstances. Those intending to be on the 2026-2027 academic job market are also welcome to indicate if they would like the conference to advertise their job search in the conference program. Prizes will be awarded for best student papers.
Wolfville is a small university town in the heart of the Annapolis Valley — one of Canada's oldest agricultural regions and a growing destination for food and wine. Early October brings ideal fall weather and peak harvest season, with the Valley's apple orchards and vineyards at their best. Wolfville is a short drive from Halifax and easily accessible by air through Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
Accommodations in Wolfville are scarce throughout fall and we strongly encourage early bookings at local B&Bs and other small establishments. The Slumber Inn in New Minas, a 9-minute drive from campus, has rooms at special conference rates available by calling and citing the Atlantic Canada Economics Association conference. We approximately expect the conference to run from early afternoon on Friday October 2nd, to early afternoon on Sunday October 4th.
The organizers gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Bank of Montreal, SSHRC, and other sponsors.
