AAAE 2019 Student Panel

The Atlantic Association of Applied Economists (AAAE) hosted a student panel on March 29, 2019.   Honours students Zihao Wang and Hunter Powell took part in the panel, where Atlantic applied economics experts from various government departments and agencies listened and gave feedback on undergraduate student research.

Zihao Wang:

"I had a chance to present my working thesis in front of applied economists at the AAAE student panel. My thesis is about the U.S.-China trade war simulation, in the approach of computational general equilibrium model. During the table discussion, I could get feedback on my work from economists from the government as well as from faculty from other universities. I could also listen to the amazing presentations given by peers, about their understanding of the important economic issues in Atlantic Canada."

Hunter Powell:

"I was given the opportunity to discuss my honour's thesis regarding the causes and effects of job matching on the labour outcomes of recent Canadian graduates. They were quite interested in my results and asked me many questions and gave me suggestions for further work. It was a valuable experience to have been able to present my work and get feedback from real economists in our region."
