My interest in economics can be traced back to the influence of my parents and my personal experience on the economic development in China in the past 15 years. Chinese economic reform brought tremendous changes to the society. Under the revolution, my family got the chance to move forward by making financial planning and investment decision. Soon I became aware of the economic factors that can change people lives. I wanted to have a better understanding about the world around me. Therefore, I decided to devote myself to study of economics.

Studying economics at Acadia University helped me relate the concepts and theories from the lectures to the real world. It motived me to see how economics principle apply to firms and the entire nation. The department offers many different programs for students to choose. With small size of class, both professors and students can know each other well. Students are able to keep in touch with professor easily. All professors in economics department are considerate to the students. They helped me a lot when I had difficult time. The department provides a wide variety of topics and courses to students. Students can learn economics in different perspectives. The courses are well arranged with both macro and micro level, and theoretical and quantitative concept. Each student is able to find their own interest with plenty of electives. In the department the advisor and professors are willing to guide students through their academic lives.

I have been a teaching assistant in the Economics Department for three years, I realized that there is a lot of dedication and effort that makes a good economics student and an economist. My overall experience with Acadia is fantastic. As an international student, I feel being cared and concerned in the department and Acadia. I will complete Bachelor's degree in economics with business in May 2016. I may continue pursue a master degree in economics or business in Canada, or back Canada with a post graduate work permit. I am honored to be a graduate from the economics department in Acadia. Studying in Acadia is one of the best experience in my life.
